28 Feb

GOOD  AFTERNOON:

WELCOME:

LADIES  AND  GENTLEMEN:

PROPHET:  The  ordinary  Hebrew  word  for  prophet  is  nabi,  derived  from  a  verb  signifying  “to  bubble  forth”  like  a  fountain;  hence  the  word  means  one  who  announces  or  pours  forth  the  declarations  of  God.  The  English  word  comes  from  the  Greek  prophetes,  which  signifies  in  classical  Greek  one  who  speaks  for  another,  specially  one  who  speaks  for  God,  and  so  interprets  His  Will  to  man;  hence  its  essential  meaning  is  “an  interpreter.”  The  use  of  the  word  in  its  modern  sense  as  “one  who  predicts”  is  post-classical  according  to  Smith’s  Bible  Dictionary.     According  to  the  Word  of  God  a  PROPHET:  is  a  SERVANT,  HOLY  MAN  OR  WOMAN  OF  GOD  THAT  SERVES  AS  GOD’S  SPOKESMAN  TO  THE  PEOPLE  AS  HE  OR  SHE  IS  MOVED  BY  THE  HOLY  SPIRIT.      A  PROPHET  SPEAKS  FORTH  THE  WORDS  AND  COMMANDS   (“STATUTES”)  THAT  HE  OR  SHE  RECEIVES  FROM  GOD.    MEDITATE  ON:   ZECHARIAH  1:6;   2  PETER  1:21;   EXODUS  4:16, 7:1.       HALLELUJAH!   AMEN.  THANK  YOU  FOR  YOUR  SUPPORT  AND  VISITING:  MISSIONARY  CYNTHIA  BENNETT.     ALWAYS  REMEMBER:  JOHN  3:16  GOD  LOVES  YOU  &  SO  DO  I.   MAY  GOD  ABUNDANTLY  BLESS  YOU!

THE WORD OF GOD THROUGH THE PROPHETS

28 Feb

GOOD  AFTERNOON:

WELCOME:

LADIES  AND  GENTLEMEN:

THE  CALL  OF  THE  PROPHET:

Amos  was no isolated figure in ancient Israel.   At  the very dawn of his People’s history a man appeared whose actions were directly determined by the word of God.  No  one in later times was held in greater veneration than was Abraham,  the forefather of Israel.  Yet  what was the secret of his greatness?  It  was not his wealth, nor his  heroism,  nor his outward  achievements.  Rather  it was that when the word of the Lord came to him,  calling him to leave home and kindred and to go out into the unknown, he obeyed.  Even though he took  Lot  it was  no easy course for him to follow.   In  many ways the promise that he and his seed should receive an inheritance in another land seemed impossible of fulfillment.  Yet  Abraham believed God and departed  ” asked the Lord had spoken unto him”  (Gen.  12:4).  Thus  although he did not proclaim the judgment of God as Amos. In later days, he was honored as a  “prophet”  (Gen.  20:7)  because the word of God hack on to him and because he is safe and obedience he bore a true witness to the God who had entered into covenant with him.      Now Moses was also a second name that was never forgotten in the Old Testament history.  In his case, there were remarkable incidents connected with his birth and early manhood which might have given him a title saying in the annals of his people. With these incidents in themselves would never have raised him to the unique position that he afterward hailed the distinctive thing about Moses life was in the remoteness of the desert the word of the Lord came to him. While the Bush burned with fire and was not consumed, God himself drew and revealed himself as the living one, the “I Am,”  sufficient for every situation that could arise. So God sent him forth to bring faith and unity to a faithless and dispirited people, to deliver them from the greatest human  power  of  that time,   to lead them to Sinai  and  to serve as mediator in binding  them into a covenant with Himself.   Time and time again Moses suffered the people’s rebellion & faintness  of  heart;  more thin ones we see him pleading with God in prayer for those who were elderly undeserving of divine grace.  Small  wonder that it  came to be seen that  ” There has not arisen a prophet since in Israel  like   Moses,  whom the Lord new face to face”  (Deut.  34:10).  Here again was a man who received the word of the Lord and bore a true witness to the covenant God of Israel.    This is just some of the prophets  of the Old Testament  but we know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the  MIGHTY  GREAT  PROPHET  AND  EVERYTHING  WE  NEED  REGARDLESS  OF  THE  PROPHETS  OF  BOTH: THE  OLD  AND  NEW  TESTAMENT.         THANK  YOU  FOR  YOUR  SUPPORT  AND  VISITING:  MISSIONARY  CYNTHIA  BENNETT.    ALWAYS  REMEMBER:  JOHN  3:16  GOD  LOVES  YOU  &  SO  DO  I.   MAY  GOD  ABUNDANTLY  BLESS  YOU!
